Nexuzhealth, created from the joint venture between Cegeka and UZ Leuven, has again chosen Arcadiz as service provider for mission and business-critical connectivity. Arcadiz provides redundant connectivity between the two data centers in Leuven and Hasselt for nexuzhealth.
Electronic Patient Record
Nexuzhealth connects patients, healthcare institutions, and healthcare professionals through a central electronic patient record. Nexuzhealth comprises several different platforms and includes approximately 4.6 million patient records. More than 35 hospitals and healthcare institutions and over 110,000 healthcare professionals are now using nexuzhealth.
Data Always and Everywhere Securely Available
The information in the patient records must always be available to its users. It is important that this data is always synchronized and that the security of the privacy-sensitive information is ensured. To guarantee continuous availability in case of an incident, two data center locations sufficiently far apart have been chosen. One data center is located on the UZ Leuven campus, and the other is at Cegeka in Hasselt. For connectivity between the two data centers, nexuzhealth has renewed its partnership with Arcadiz.
Redundant, Encrypted Connection with Low Latency
To guarantee an uptime of 99.9995%, the connection requirements are very high. The redundant connection between the two data centers, with a bandwidth of 10 Gb/s, is fully geographically separated and has two redundant entries. Additionally, the connection is end-to-end encrypted. The latency on the fiber, the end equipment, and the intermediate optical infrastructure is minimal.
Security
In addition to encryption, many other measures have been taken to ensure information security. For example, the customer's encryption officer is the only person authorized to make changes to the encryption and/or security parameters of the cards, and privileged accounts are assigned to different individuals. This establishes a crucial foundation for the upcoming NIS2 directive.
With an upgrade, the equipment can also support PQC (Post-Quantum Cryptography) algorithms for key exchange. This will provide necessary security/encryption against future attacks where hackers use the computing power of quantum computers.
Deep Expertise of Arcadiz
Arcadiz was awarded the contract because they offered the best technological and economically most advantageous solution. The deep knowledge and experience of Arcadiz as a specialist in optical networks were also confirmed by the large number of hospitals and healthcare institutions that count Arcadiz among their clients. Some examples include Emmaüs vzw (Mechelen), UZ Leuven, Ziekenhuis aan de Stroom (Antwerp), Grand Hôpital de Charleroi, Sint Antonius Ziekenhuis (Utrecht), and Spaarne Gasthuis (North Holland).
Bram Lambrichts, Director Finance & Shared Services at nexuzhealth: "The specialists at Arcadiz have in-depth knowledge of all aspects of optical networks. Moreover, they are always available 24/7 if we need support. We are therefore pleased to continue our cooperation in the coming years!"
