Telecom operators face the challenge of providing high capacity services (1GbE to 100G) for the large business market on the one hand, and residential and mobile backhaul services on the other hand, quickly and cost-effectively using the same infrastructure. This requires a network infrastructure that is reliable, secure and scalable. Optical networks, equipped with synchronisation and encryption, are ideally suited to deliver these different services over the same infrastructure. In addition, the advent of 5G makes new demands on the network infrastructure.
Optical Transport Networks
Arcadiz specialises in designing, building and maintaining optical transport networks for Service Providers.
Arcadiz has extensive experience with both WDM and packet based optical networks. With or without encryption, which allows you to offer B2B MEF2.0 services with guaranteed quality. On these networks, Arcadiz implements Ethernet Assurance, an end-to-end monitoring service that allows you to monitor and demonstrate this quality (packetloss, delay, jitter, etc.) through a portal for your customers.
Arcadiz also has experience with Open Line Systems that make disintegration of the optical network possible and allow the transport of alien wavelengths over an open optical layer.
Timing & synchronisation
These networks can be extended with extra features like synchronisation, for example for next-generation mobile networks. Arcadiz builds synchronisation networks based on a solution from Oscilloquartz, part of ADVA Optical Networking. This end-to-end timing solution provides accurate frequency, phase and time-of-day information. From our Network Operations Centre we can also measure and monitor the quality of synchronisation in the network.
Optical Access Networks
An optical access network offers the possibility of offering a wide range of digital services to a large number of users.
Residential care homes, student campuses and business parks are characterised by the diversity in demand for different services. These include telephony, video, high-speed data, wireless, camera surveillance, IP intercom, smart metering and home automation.
With our optical access solutions, based on Active Ethernet, GPON, Next Generation PON (NG-PON2, XGS-PON) or G.fast, you can connect users in a scalable way and easily manage the whole.
To optimally implement and manage complex optical networks, specialised measuring equipment is indispensable.
Arcadiz has an extensive range of equipment for measuring WDM networks, such as OTDR meters, Optical Spectrum Analyzers (OSA), Dispersion meters, Traffic Analyzers and Bit Error Rate Testers (BERT) up to 100G, optical power meters, fibre inspection cameras, etc. This enables us to check whether a glass fibre trajectory meets the predetermined requirements. We can also determine where the fault is located in the event of a fibre optic break.
