Vleuten/Heverlee, January 7, 2016 - ARCADIZ, specialist in the field of broadband optical fiber networks, has supplied a Managed Optical Network to I&A Samenwerking Vlissingen-Middelburg. With this network fully managed by Arcadiz, which provides high availability, maximum redundancy and low latency, I&A Samenwerking is able to focus on the further development and optimization of its municipal services.
The municipalities of Vlissingen and Middelburg decided to accommodate their ICT departments in a single organization in order to achieve better quality in management, higher development rate, further connections, cost management and reduced vulnerability, i.e., I&A Samenwerking Vlissingen-Middelburg. A major step in this direction was the implementation of a new Centrale Twin Data Center Infrastructure. In order to be able to subsequently link the data centers and the customers' premises they went looking for the required optical fiber connections on the market. A European tender was issued to this end.
Given the specialist knowledge required to do so, they wanted to lease this optical fiber solution managed (both the optical fiber connections and the required equipment, including management and support). ARCADIZ, specialist in the area of secure, optical networks, was awarded the contract. They offer the best quality solution at the most affordable price.
ARCADIZ' solution consists of an optical ring between the three locations, using (partially existing) routes run by several providers. Redundancy is optimally guaranteed in all areas: connections never cross each other and are not assembled on the same equipment. Due to the application of DWDM technology, the DMZ switches (1GbE), the core switches (10 GbE) and the SAN switches (8 Gb FC) between data centers (DC1 and DC2) and the customers' premises are unlocked.
The complete solution is managed 24/7 from ARCADIZ' Network Operation Center (NOC).
Pim Geluk, automation coordinator at I&A samenwerking Vlissingen - Middelburg: "Arcadiz stands for quality and reliability. Providing access and connecting a Twin Data center and three customer sites took place seamlessly. Sound project management and advanced risk reduction have led to an amazing result!'
With the new infrastructure, the foundation has been laid for the further integration of the different ICT systems and processes in the optimization of I&A Samenwerking Vlissingen - Middelburg services.
