
Transmode Node & Network Management - ENM & TNM
The Transmode Management Platform is a modular and scalable management solution for the TS- and TM-series platforms.

Design philosophy
Smaller networks can be managed using the Embedded Node Manager ENM. All required SW resides in the network elements and thus no extra software is required to launch and run the ENM.
The ENM is managed either via a command line interface (CLI) or via a Graphical User Interface (GUI) using a standard the web browser. Every node can be accessed locally or remotely via special data channels that are carried together with the traffic using digital wrappers or via separate wavelength channels (OSC).
Standardized management protocols (SNMP) are used to easy integration with other, higher order existing management systems.
More complex networks can be managed using the network management solution Transmode TNM. This is client-server based solution that can be installed on computers using Windows, Linux or Solaris operative systems (i.e. PC's and Unix workstations).
Transmode TNM gives a total control of the network with alarm collection, performance management, configuration management, security management, software upgrade, graphical interface etc. Alarm notification can as an option be provided via SMS or email.
Transmode TNM has also a CORBA interface according to 3GPP standard (FM, PM).
System architecture
The Embedded Node Manager ENM can reside in a Traffic Unit (Transponder or MuxPonder) to provide cost-effective solutions for NE’s that are based on a single unit within the 1U-high TM-101 chassis. 
For larger NE’s (based on TM-3000/-301 chassis) the ENM resides within a Control Unit to provide an aggregated management view of the NE.
User authentication is done either towards the local user databases or towards a centralized RADIUS/TACACS server. In the ENM, standard Unix commands are used for maintaining the user database. Security audit trail with login and logout data is stored in local file.
The Transmode network manager TNM is a clientserver based system operating in the Element Management Layer. It is focused in providing FCAPS functionality for one or more interconnected optical sub-networks.
The Transmode TNM Server supports distributed scalable solutions with full redundancy. The Java-based Transmode TNM Client is designed to run independent of workstation and OS environment to facilitate a smooth integration with existing NMS/OSS systems.
