Application examples 

  • The Double Dual GbE Transponder (TP DDGBE) is an extremely cost-effective and powerful building block for IP networks, for example, it can be used for combined IP/DSLAM and GbE-broadcast networks using the 1U high TM-101 chassis at the collector nodes.
  • The same unit can be software configured for line protection or as a regeneration Transponder and can thus be used for protected configurations over multiple regeneration hops where each node has management access via embedded management channels. Or why not insert DWDM SFP’s on the unit and use it in amplified DWDM network!
  • Another powerful IP-building block is the 10xGbE Muxponder which can be used to collect ten GbE signals directly of IP/DSLAM backhauling over a 10Gbit/s wavelength over an amplified DWDM long-haul link.
  • Another example is the 8-port SDH MuxPonder, a single-board STM-16 multiplexer for STM-1 and STM-4 signals. It can be used as a standard SDH multiplexer to utilize the wavelength channel capacity more efficiently in point-to-point networks. The same unit has a unique transparency mode that also enables the tributary OH to be transported end-to-end. This feature is used in 3G transmission networks to collect STM-1 signals from Base Station clusters up to the Switch Center and still provide a DCC connectivity between the two systems.
  • 10Gbit/s Transponders with G.709 wrappers and Forward Error Correction can be used for extreme long haul applications. For shorter links the all-XFP-based Dual 10 Gbit/s Transponder can be used to really bring down the cost of 10Gbit/s Transport to “CWDM levels”.
