Sycamore Networks designs and manufactures the DNX Series of non-blocking 4/3/1/0 DACCS (Digital Access Cross Connect System) Multi-Service Access Concentrators for network service providers and corporate end-users.
The DNX is a scalable system that enables service providers to rapidly and cost effective provision services with a variety of interfaces on the right-sized platform for initial deployment.


DNX-1U

Base Station Access Gateway (BSAG)
This 1RU-high pizza box provides base station consolidation by integrating the functions of multiple network elements enabling a multitude of services to share common transmission facilities. With up to eight T1 or E1 Short/Long Haul interfaces, the DNX-1u eliminates the need for external CSU functionality. The Time-Slot Interchange (TSI) enables grooming for cost-effective backhaul strategies. Its PCM to ADPCM transcoder provides up to 4:1 compression of legacy voice traffic. Eight ports of 10/100 Ethernet connectivity, combined with layer 2 switching and channelized routing, eliminate additional devices such as hubs, switches, and routers. Two synchronous EIA-530/ITU X.21, V.35 interfaces provide access for N x 56/64 serial data, while six asynchronous EIA-232/ITU V.24 interfaces provide terminal server functionality to manage legacy equipment.

DNX-4

Four slot 3RU-high shelf with a capacity of up to 32 T1/E1's or 4 DS3 or E3 interfaces.

DNX-11

Eleven slot 6RU-high shelf with a capacity of up to 88 T1/E1's, 6 DS3's or E3's or a single STM-1 interface.

DNX-88

Preserving all of the DNX-11 investment, utilizing 1.2 Gbps of non-blocking switching, the DNX-88 can scale to over 600 T1's, 500 E1's, 24 fully loaded DS3's or E3's and up to 8 fully loaded OC3/STM-1 interfaces.

Supported Interfaces on DNX-4, DNX-11 and DNX-88:

  • OC3/STM-1: Intermediate and long-range 1310 nm single mode fiber laser for distance of 15 and 43 km.
  • Hybrid DS3: G.747 Support for mixed T1 and E1 operation.
  • E3
  • Octal T1/E1: Structured or Un-structured.
  • Octal High-Speed Serial: Supporting EIA-232/422/449/530/530-A, V.35 and X.21.
  • Channelized Router: 12-port 10BaseT Ethernet hub supporting TCP/IP, IPX, RIP, RIP2, DHCP, OSPF and NAT
  • Octal Voice: E&M Type I/II and FXS/FXO Ground/Loop Start
