Ericsson has taken over all products from Axxessit which develops, produces and markets integrated access devices and versatile consolidation units for next generation access and metro networks. Combined with Ericsson's Axxesit's powerful NG-OSSs (New Generation Operations Support Systems), the equipment is ideally suited for establishing traditional and new services, based on PDH, SDH, NG-SDH and Ethernet – for greenfield applications or as a complement to existing networks. With more than 25 years of experience in telecommunications, Ericsson Axxessit provides customers with high quality and cost-effective broadband solutions.

The General Framing Protocol (GFP) allow Data and Telecom Operators to offer innovative and profitable combined IP and leased line services, using their current SDH infrastructure. The solution assures the evolution of the operators network into an Next Generation Network offering:

AXXMETRO

 AXXMETRO is part of Ericsson Axxessit's Multi-Service Provisioning Platform, that can deliver a mix of voice and/or high-speed data services at a fraction of the cost of traditional SDH equipment. This device enables the Service Provider to leverage legacy network investments by adding new services today while at the same time preparing the next migration step towards IP/MPLS.

AXXMETRO is a shelf with room for 21 plug-in modules with an aggregate capacity of up to 2,5Gbit/s (STM-16), upgradeable to 10Gbit/s (STM-64) and tributary capacities down to 2Mbit/s (E1). The flexibility provided by offering mapping of data traffic into a number of VC-12, VC-3 or VC-4 by using virtual concatenation together with a high capacity cross connect, makes AXXMETRO an ideal product for a Service Provider to groom and consolidate traffic from various sources in a Metro/Core network. AXXMETRO also enables the ability to offer a service availability of 99.999% with its 1:1 module protection.

AXXMETRO is part of the AXX-product family that offers the latest Ethernet over SDH (EoS) technology consisting of a set of new industry standards for more optimised mapping and control including Class of Services. All supported by a common, and powerful Network Management platform, AXXTMN, consisting of a craft terminal, element management and network management for easy implementation of end-to-end services. In addition Ericsson Axxessit offers AXXMEDIATOR which provides a northbound interface for integration to other vendors’ management systems.

AXXEDGE

The AXXEDGE is a versatile 1 RU high GFP enabled consolidation unit (CU) for remote AXXCONNECT and AXX155E, and can be used in an operator's Point of Presence (PoP), as well as a high end IAD to interconnect a business headquarter with its branch offices. The AXXEDGE offers a wide range of PDH and LAN interfaces, e.g. E1, E3, STM-1/4/16, Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet. It has a fully non-blocking cross connect 64x64STM-1 down to the VC-12 level, and can offer up to 32 STM-1 interfaces, 8 STM-4 or 4 STM-16 interfaces. It has a built in 20Gbps L2/L3 Ethernet switch, with up to 32 LAN and 32 WAN ports.

AXXCONNECT

AXXCONNECT is part of Ericsson Axxessit's Multi-Service Provisioning Platform, an ultra compact fibre optical solution that delivers a mix of TDM and/or Ethernet services at a fraction of the cost of traditional SDH equipment. This device enables the Service Provider to leverage legacy network investments by adding new services today while at the same time preparing the next migration step towards IP/MPLS.

AXXCONNECT is supplied in variants with a transport capacity of 155 Mbps (STM-1) or 622 Mbps (STM-4) configured either as a Terminal Multiplexer (TM) or Add/Drop multiplexer (ADM). Thanks to the flexibility AXXCONNECT offers it is an ideal solution for a Service Provider deploying new revenue generating services in less dense geographical areas up to dense business areas used either as a peripheral device in a metro-ring topology or as a CPE for single customers or a multi-tenant unit in a business park.

AXX155E

 The AXX155E is an Integrated Access Device for use in fibre optic networks. The AXX155E combines IP- and TDM-traffic, by running Ethernet or IP- along with TDM-channels inside an SDH STM-1 frame structure that can be easily carried across the network. The bandwidth of the IP-channel is configurable up to 136 Mb/s. The IP part of the AXX155E consists of a high-performing L2/L3 switch assuring full wire speed operations in all circumstances.
