UMTS backhauling using DSLAMs

Build upon existing infrastructure or deploy new DSLAM networks

The transport backbone currently represents 10-20% of the total cost of mobile networks. With the rollout of 3G and multimedia services, mobile operators are facing a new set of demands that need to be handled cost efficiently and in a way that supports the growing core functionality of the network.

The choice of transport solution becomes a strategic question for both suppliers and carriers in order to support the evolution of the network.

When mobile operators are making their 3G services more general available, they are faced with the reduced footprint of the ‘Node B’, hence making them rethink their transmission models.

Arcadiz Telecom proposes solutions to use an existing DSLAM infrastructure – or deploy a new DSLAM network, using specialised DSL modems and DSLAMs to adapt ATM traffic of the E1 interfaces into ATM DSL traffic.

  • Remove the cost of expensive leased E1 lines
  • Use widely deployed DSLAM infrastructure
