Leuven, 28 August 2007 --- Arcadiz Telecom today announced that it has successfully implemented a turnkey optical transmission network over optical fiber at the University of Antwerp (UA), Belgium. The UA’s new optical transmission network connects six major sites over optical fiber in ring topology thus allowing for transparent and controlled transportation between the data centres, meeting both Ethernet-related requirements in terms of GbE and 10GbE and Fiberchannel-related requirements in terms of FC4.
The Arcadiz Telecom turnkey solution includes design, installation and first through third level maintenance. “Arcadiz Telecom designed an extremely reliable and fully flexible solution which translates in low operational expenses. In addition, the design flexibility makes it possible to expand and upgrade the system as our needs grow”, says Piet Rypens, University Antwerp’s Head of Network Department.
The network can be easily upgraded in service to up to 16 CWDM wavelengths or to combined 36 CWDM and DWDM wavelengths. The Fiberchannel transport is Brocade Certified. The network is managed through a client server Network Managing System (NMS) providing comprehensive remote diagnostics and provisioning as well as early warnings.
Secure and reliable data transmission is rapidly becoming a critical issue for many organisations. “As a preferred partner of most of the leading suppliers in the market and a trusted supplier of many operators, Arcadiz Telecom is well positioned in this growing segment. In addition, our yearlong expertise allows us to come up with tailor-made systems design that meets all present and future requirements of our customers,” says Jos Vermeylen, Arcadiz Telecom.
